With just about two months left before he rides off into the Texas sunset (and hopefully into a pile of legal quicksand), President George Bush has declared war on the North American wolf with a new plan that would strip wolves in the Northern Rockies of their endangered species protection making them fair game for any asshole with a gun.
Should Mr. Bush be successful in making his plan a reality, it is estimated that as many as 1,000 wolves could face slaughter in just the fist 12 months. This animal genocide would be a disaster for Yellowstone’s wolf population, which is already headed for a crash, according to NRDC Action Fund, which is currently raining funds in the hope of blocking this cruel deed.
